3 Ways for the Over 40 Person to Begin an Exercise Program
Are you over 40, and want to Lose Weight fast? Are you ready to try to exercise to improve your health and well being, but do not know where to start?
I was in this very same position last year, asking the same questions. I know, as do you, that exercise is necessary for good health, however what I did not know is how should a person like me begin exercising, especially if like me, they are a coach potato, over 40, and have some health concerns? The answer was not easy to find. Most exercise gurus on the internet assume anyone can do their program, which often includes severe caloric deprivation, hours of cardio, and intense intervals which even an Olympic athlete would find challenging. These programs did not fit my particular situation. However, through persistence, I discovered 3 ways to begin my exercise program. I hope you find them helpful as you begin your search for an exercise program.
1. Find a program that can easily be modified for your particular situation.
They are out there, you just need to look for them. Don’t be distracted by claims of fast Fat Loss, or pictures of twenty-something fitness models. Find a program that will be easy to incorporate into your life, and which you can modify for your specific physical situation.
2. Be realistic about what you can really accomplish.
Yeah, its important to dream of having that amazing beach body, but remember there is a reason that swim suit models have swim suit bodies: its their job! Your job is likely different, and if you have a family, you just need to accept that you do not have the time to dedicate to getting that kind of physique. Set reasonable goals and find a program that will help you achieve them.
3. Find a program you enjoy doing.
No pain no gain is BS. At our age, pain is pain, and we feel it for days. Yes, exercise should challenge us. However, it also needs to be enjoyable otherwise it will become a burden which we will quickly dump. After all, if exercise is getting in the way of enjoying life, then what is the point?
These were the three steps I followed to start an exercise program. I have lost 40 pounds, and I feel great. I wish you great success as you begin your exercise program!
